Every Android device now infringes Apple patent: Slide to unlock

Summary: Apple has received a confirmed patent for the “slide to unlock” control in use on every Android phone and tablet in existence.
Whatever your position is on patent infringement and the never-ending lawsuits in the mobile space, the fact is until the system is overhauled it is the law. I hate that design elements can be patented, instead of actual devices which makes more sense. Apple has been riding the patentability of design elements for a while, and has a number of Android device makers on the ropes as a result. A U. S. patent awarded today to Apple guarantees that every Android phone and tablet ever made infringes Apple’s design.
Anyone who has touched an Android device has come face-to-face with the slide to unlock feature. The device is inaccessible until a slider or similar control is touched and slid to a boundary, unlocking the gadget. This simple control has now been patented by Apple, removing it from the available design pool to anyone else.
Apple has been picking and choosing its targets for patent infringement litigation carefully, using various patents it owns to go after infringers. This new patent over the simple slide to unlock feature means the company can go after any Android device maker it wants, and likely have success in the courts.
Heck, the control on Windows Phone devices, sliding the lock screen up to access the phone functions, may very well infringe on this patent too. That could extend to the upcoming Windows 8 as early preview versions use this same control to unlock devices.
Apple filed for the slide to unlock patent before the original iPhone was released, and just received confirmation of the patent. That puts every Android device ever made firmly in the infringing category, should Apple choose to get nasty.

Four key reasons to include cloud computing in your business strategy...!!!

Summary: The issue of success or failure in moving your company data, IT storage, servers or software to the cloud is often driven by technical issues, including performance, bandwidth, security and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) considerations.
This guest post comes from Mark Skilton, Global Director of Strategy and Global Infrastructure Services, Capgemini, and Co-Chair of the Cloud Computing Work Group, The Open Group.

The issue of success or failure in moving your company data, IT storage, servers or software to the cloud is often driven by technical issues, including performance, bandwidth, security and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) considerations. While many of these factors are key criteria for selecting cloud solutions, they usually don’t align with the bigger picture that C-level executives must consider when adding new IT solutions.
How IT can help sustain or create a competitive advantage has never been more apparent than today through the use of cloud computing. This technology boasts benefits such as reduced costs and scalability, just to name a few, but many companies fail to find the right fit for cloud within their business. [Disclosure: The Open Group is a sponsor of BriefingsDirect podcasts.]
This is because cloud computing is not one size fits all. Performance, network bandwidth, security, and total cost concerns can be allayed through a better portfolio and investment approach that considers the multitude of options available.
How cloud computing fits
In industries where working capital bears a high price and is in short supply, businesses often have to make ends meet and have limited investment available. Therefore, being able to source the lowest cost and drive efficiencies even further is critical to growing business and market share.
For companies with limited working capital resource or cash flow funds, the use of on-demand services becomes an attractive option for consumers to avoid upfront costs or maintenance of services. Likewise, companies seeking to provide better profitability from their operation and vendors managing their cost center can leverage on-demand models to target areas of their portfolio to reduce cost and maximize return.
When adopting cloud computing, companies are often driven by cost effectiveness, rather than looking at the bigger picture and asking what cloud solution is the best fit for the business.
When adopting cloud computing, companies are often driven by cost effectiveness, rather than looking at the bigger picture and asking what cloud solution is the best fit for the business. Cost savings, longevity of product, and performance aren’t mutually exclusive, and all should be factored into the decision-making process when researching and purchasing a cloud solution.
Here are four questions, which include key metrics and drivers, to ask when researching cloud solutions that will maximize the value of cloud computing for your organization:
  1. Why is investment being spent on areas of IT that are not differentiating your business and can be commoditized?
    • Key Metric: The balance of percent of investment on non-core commodity IT
    • Key drivers: TCO needs to consider where to focus IT investment
  2. How can IT grow and adapt with the ever-increasing expansion of data storage and the growth of computing demands eclipsing on-premise facilities?
    • Key Metric: The cost of storage and archiving , recovery and continuity
    • Key drivers: Latency of network and storage costs can be targeted through considering the whole IT portfolio, not just niche use cases of cost-performance. Look at the bigger picture.
  3. How can access to new markets and new channels be better served through extending networks and partnerships?
    • Key Metric: Size of markets and effectiveness of sales channels, both internal sales and external direct sales and reselling
    • Key drivers: Total cost of acquisition can include the creation or use of third-party distributed marketplaces and self-service portals and platforms
  4. Is your own IT fast enough to beat your competition or drive the cost savings or revenue and margin growth plans you need?
    • Key metric: Speed of IT delivery and its cost and quality of service.
    • Key drivers: Performance can be offered through selected service provisioning. Question whether all knowledge needs to be in-house. Skills can be as-a-service too.

Its been Ten Years now! Windows XP has been the best of Microsoft product...!!!!

What? Is Win XP really 10 years old?
Yes! It is!!
microsoft-windows-xp [JussBuzz.com]
Facts & Figures :
Release: August 24, 2001
Achievement: Windows XP is one of the most used Operating System on earth!  In the year 2006, it ruled the world with a massive 85% of the world’s population using it. And out of which 74.9% used internet (w3 statistics)
It was the launch of what was to become Microsoft’s most successful operating system.
Its been Ten years and three service packs, Windows XP is still installed on some 42% of the world’s computers.
The problem what it faces is obviously the Security threats! A 10 year old OS cannot really sustain or prevent the current era’s hackers and intruders!
Though the Service pack 2 and 3 had some improvements in security, it still lagged way behind WINDOWS 7.
The Admin doesn’t really have full-control over his users to control the access and give limited permissions. This can be very well achieved in Windows 7.
Nevertheless, Windows XP was the easiest OS to work on. The best layman’s Operating System! Modifying Settings, Accessing the Windows XP’s OS files and many other stuffs actually helped any person to get used to Computer and finally get induced into Computing!
Window’s greatest advantage is their robust MS-Office package. Its the best, it rules over all its competitors – Open Office, Libre Office etc., To be frank, they can never be called as Competitors.
That’s why, even on Apple’s hardware, many technical types have chosen to dual-boot XP.
XP‘s huge driver library and developer base are what keep me coming back to my XP box. If it’s been dreamed of in the world of PCs, by now it’s been dreamed of on XP.
XP‘s user-friendly nature is still unmatchable. A transition to Windows 7 was a sudden jerk for many. As Windows7 was something advanced for starters.
What’s next?
Windows 7 is also ruling the next part of the world! We are waiting for some news that Microsoft will release about Windows 8. Windows 8 is supposed to be the ‘Next-GEN OS’ of this Decade!

LogMeIn – Mobile Application:::::: T0 Login Remotely....!!!!!!!

Remote Computing for starters is a tool that allows access to any computer from a remote location. This is a very crude definition of the actual process, but will convey to you the basic principle that runs remote computing.

LogMeIn is one such app available across all major platforms that will make remote computing a whole lot remote by allowing the technology to be utilized over tablets and smart phones. The technology behind the app is dependable and robust.
What is particularly encouraging about this app is the attention to detail, the ease of use and it’s nominal pricing.
The ratings for the app are once again encouraging and surely this app is worth the try.
This app is available on both iPhone/iPad and Android. [Visit the respective articles to get both features and download link of LogMeIn app]

iPhone turned into a spiPhone! Beware of it !!!!

Patrick Traynor
Patrick Traynor
Let me start with a question, How many of you have smart phones or planning to have one ? I know its  a lame question to ask because it is the trend of smartphones and they are now ruling the world with their charm.  But let me tell you, days to come will challenge your phones to hack your privacy. And if you are an addict to your phone and if you aren’t letting your phone off sight not even for a second then believe me you might be more vulnerable than any other person. You will be shocked as you go through the post below, so get ready to get shocked-
A research team in Georgia Institute  Of  Technology in the United States Of America has turned smartphones into Spy-phones, irony is that the more you pay the phone, easy to get being hacked.  They have invented an application that will let your phone to detect what all you have written in your mails, passwords and sensitive documents using your own phone’s accelerometer(It is the internal device that detects when and how the phone is tilted). They have used it to sense keyboard vibrations and decode the complete sentences with up to 80 percent accuracy. According to the researchers it is not an easy task but it can be accomplished using the latest smartphones. When they first tried it using iphone3 the results weren’t that accurate but when they tried it with iphone 4 ,bingo! they were spot on with accuracy touching 80% as it has ax added gyroscope to filter up the accelerometer noise.
iphone listening to keyboard
iphone listening to keyboard
Previously Professor named Patrick Traynor had achieved similar feat by using microphones, but they are relatively more sensitive than accelerometer. They sample 44,000 vibrations/second where as later one samples 100 vibrations/second but the problem arrived when manufactures started giving extra protection by not giving access to microphones for being used by third party applications unless user approves it. But this protection is unlikely in the case of accelerometers, which allowed them to use it as a tool.
iphone as Spiphone
iphone as Spiphone
The technique works by using a software that detects the pairs of keys being pressed, rather than individual key stroke or letters. Then it will determines on what side of the keyboard does this pair of keys lies, is it on the left or right side of the keyboard, and whether they are close together or far apart. After that software compares the result against a preloaded dictionary.

For example : If a user types a word “SPORTS“, which is then split into pairs of words as  SP-OR-TS, and is interpreted as LEFT-RIGHT-FAR, RIGHT-LEFT-FAR, LEFT-LEFT-NEAR i.e, LRF-RLF-LLN  and then the code is compared with that of 58,000 words in a dictionary. This technique went on to fetch words with 80% accuracy in iphone4.
According to Henry Carter, a PhD student in computer science and one of the study’s co-authors- this hacking attack is carried on by requesting phone user to download an innocent looking application, which doesn’t ask to use any of the phone sensors. When the Keyboard detection malware is turned on, and when it is placed next to the keyboard as you start typing it starts listening  like a small kid without making a noise maintaining pin drop silence.
But the effective range has to be at most three inches from a keyboard, so phone users can simply leave their phones in their pockets or bags, or just move them further away from the keyboard.
Smartphones As Spy-Phones
These graphs show measurements recorded by a smart phone as letters are typed on a nearby keyboard. The device can distinguish between "a" at the left of the keyboard and "l" on the right, as well as between two pairs: "pq" and "nm."
But in real world if there are noise where the user is operating or playing music or traffic noise, when typing then i don’t think hacker would able to hack the details of what you type. As phone technology improves, attacks via the accelerometer could become more feasible. At the same time if security is provided around the accelerometer then it will be difficult to infringe the protective shield. At the end, i need to agree that though this is innovative but i don’t think this will affect any of the current users. And i don’t think this technique will sustain for long period, because if 2 minds work on infringing privacy then there are thousands of minds working on to prevent it.

Data Communication? Characteristics of Data Communication

Data communications are the exchange of data between 2 devices via some form of transmission medium such as a wire cable.
The effectiveness of Data communication depends on 4 characteristics-
1. Delivery – The system must deliver data to the correct Destination. Data must be received by a specific user or device.
2. Accuracy – The system must deliver the data accurately. Data that have been altered in transmission and left uncorrected are unusable.
3. Timeliness – The system must deliver the data in a timely manner. Data delivered late are of no use.Especially in the case of Video or Audio streaming, timely delivery of data is very important. This is called as Real-Time transmission.
4. Jitter – This refers to the variation in the packet arrival time. It is the uneven delivery in the streaming audio or video packets.

Block any Website on Computer Using C Code.....

Previously I have posted how to block USB post in computer.. C-Program to Disable & Enable USB Port..

In this post I’m going to show you how to block any websites in computer..

DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE ONLY. DON’T FLAME ME FOR MISUSE OF THE CODE, AND USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK.

There are many reasons why you need to know how to block a website. Some of the most common reasons are you have been targeted by spammers who use adware and popup to attack your PC. Other reasons may be to prevent user from having access to certain site.

CODE:
/* Copyright Protected by mycfiles.com
C Program to Block any website on computer */
#include<DOS.h>
#include<DIR.h>
#include<stdio.h>
#include<string.h>
#include<conio.h>

char ip[12]="127.0.0.1";
FILE *target;

int rootfinder(void);
void siteblocker(char *);
void main()
{
char name[20];
int success=0;
clrscr();
printf("Enter The web site name to be block\n");
gets(name);
success=rootfinder();
if(success)
siteblocker(name);
printf("%s is blocked",name);
getch();
}

int rootfinder()
{
int done;
struct ffblk ffblk;//File block structure

done=findfirst("C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts",&ffblk,FA_DIREC);
/*to determine the root drive*/
if(done==0)
{
target=fopen("C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts","r+");
/*to open the file*/
return 1;
}

else return 0;
}

void siteblocker(char *na)
{

int i;
fseek(target,0,SEEK_END); /*to move to the end of the file*/

fprintf(target,"\n");
fprintf(target,"%s\t%s\n",ip,na);
fclose(target);
}

Save the code as block_site.c and open it and compile it by Ctrl+F9. It will create a exe.
Now right click on that exe and open it with run as administrator.
Now the program will ask to enter the web site name to be block.
Enter the site name like www.site.com and press enter program will say www.site.com is blocked.

Code Analysis:
There is manual way of doing this trick
Go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc and find the file “hosts”. Open hosts file in Notepad.
In hosts file go at the end and add the sites you want to block
Example :
127.0.0.1             www.site.com
Save the file and exit
Hosts file description
Restart your browser and try to open the site, changes will take place immediately.
This is what we are doing with above c program..

To unblock site:
To unblock sites follow the manual way and open the hosts file in notepad and delete last lines
That 127.0.0.1  www.site.com and save.

You might cannot modify the hosts file because of windows file permission issue, then
Right click on hosts files > properties > security > and to change permissions click edit then select user and check full control box and save now again open the hosts file and modify.

Note: the reason we are running program exe in run as administrator mode is because the windows file permission issue. Normal user doesn’t have full access to the system files that we can’t write anything into the file.

GADGETS » REVIEWS::: Hands on: Windows Phone 7.5 Mango....!!!

Microsoft's Windows Phone Mango finally hits Indian shores in the form of the Samsung Omnia W,  but will it challenge the might of Apple's iOS and Google's Android? Will the OS war overtake the tablet war?

Microsoft would have us believe that the Mango build will rectify the deficiencies of Windows Phone 7. How much truth is there in this claim? We'll find out here.

From its inception, Windows Phone 7 was a head-turner with the Metro UI generating a lot of positive press. However, it's good looks couldn't make up for the deficiency of functionality which included no copy-paste, average enterprise E-mail and almost no apps to speak off in the original build.

Now that Microsoft has added more than 500 new features, Windows Phone is a much more complete and secure option for someone hunting for a high tech mobile device. Aside from this, a Nokia partnership not only guarantees a state of the art flagship Windows Mobile device line-up, but also an apps ecosystem.

500 new features may sound cool on paper but, trust us, most will care only for about 5 or 7 top nuggets, as most of the other enhancements are under the hood.

We made few key observations about Microsoft new smartphone platform:

Not a Dual Core universe:
How does one determine if it's a flagship smartphone? Size? No. Camera? No. Memory? No. Display? Maybe. Dual-Core CPU? Yes. At least all these tech terms matter for Android, maybe even for the iPhone, but not for the latest generation of Windows Phone Mango devices.

No support for dual-core hardware does not mean "below par performance", it just means Windows Phone devices don't need them! These puppies just fly, like the iPhone. Scrolling is super smooth, multitasking is fluid and battery life remains good, much better than the dual-core army of Androids.

While Microsoft is not making its own Windows Phone hardware, it is very picky about the requirements for Windows Phone Mango, which include a minimum of 384 MB RAM, a minimum 4 GB flash drive, minimum resolution of 800x480 and Qualcomm CPUs. This means Microsoft's platform will not face the type of fragmentation Android goes through by being present in multiple price segments. Minimum requirements also ensure that user experience will be consistent across all devices, which is another plus mark for Windows Phone.

Even our test subject, which is currently the most advanced Windows Phone device, boasted of a 1.4Ghz Qualcomm CPU, 512 MB RAM, 8GB internal memory and a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display.

On the flip side of things the no go for dual-core hardware means no 1080p video support and also reduces the spec sheet bragging rights, which is pretty annoying.

Whatever Microsoft thinks, dual-core architecture has to be supported soon or later because the buzzwords are the ones that attract consumers. At the moment Android is doing it pretty well and, heck, even Apple is following suit. Seriously, does any iPhone user feel underpowered? We don't think so but that hasn't stopped Apple from launching dual-core architectures like the one seen in the iPad 2.

It's still a Metro world:
With the sheer dearth of Windows Phone devices in the country, we just felt the need to add this. For those who don't know, Windows Phone does not share any legacy with the erstwhile Windows Mobile platform. The new operating system brings forth the Metro UI which has now been further enhanced in the Mango build.

The UI follows Microsoft's "Glance and Go" mantra. It is divided into two - The main screen being flooded with Tiles and a Scrolled selection of all apps. Tiles are basically large geometric icons, which also offer a bit of information, keeping in with the Glance and Go philosophy. The Tiles offer a middle ground between Apple's icon heavy interface and Android's widget friendly homescreens.

Microsoft calls these "live tiles", actually amongst the 500 Mango updates, the Live Tiles are also in for an update. Nothing major here, apart from the Tiles offering more information and more frequently, making them livelier.

Microsoft truly believes in Metro - they even put it at the fore in Windows 8 - but for the layman its something absolutely new, for some even a wee bit alien. For Microsoft's sake that's something users will need to come to terms with, if Windows Phone is to succeed as a mobile OS.

Smart Multitasker:
Back in October last year, when Windows Phone was released, it had no multi-tasking. We were struck by this while reviewing the Dell Venue Pro - was Microsoft living in the dark ages? How could a modern mobile OS survive without multitasking?

Well, then came, the NO-DO update, which kind of added a halfhearted attempt at multi-tasking.

Good sense prevailed with someone at Microsoft because now Mango is in the big league - all that one has to do is long press the back key and a webOS style card menu pops up enabling us to scroll through the various open apps.

Microsoft follows the Apple path and opts to suspend apps rather than keeping them open which is the implementation followed by Android. This ensures better battery life and, in our experience, app switching which was very smooth - we could quickly switch between a game and the Facebook app, for instance.

Mango is a Socialite:
This one is a biggie. In a nutshell, from being the worst OS for social networking, Mango Windows Phone becomes the best by far. Even with iOS 5 and its built in Twitter integration, Windows Phone will reign supreme for some time to come - unless, of course Google pulls a rabbit out of it's hat and unleashes something mind-blowing in Ice Cream Sandwich.

Aside from integration with Facebook, Twitter, E-mail and Windows Live, the highlight is the "People Hub". It's your one stop to all social information. It's just like the Friends Stream on HTC devices but much cooler and, more importantly, unlike Friends Stream it's a feature that's Microsoft has added in the OS from the ground up.

Everything is very neatly organized, but we would have preferred better Twitter integration. Power users will demand more control over their posts and here is where Mango's integration fails. At present, frequent Tweeters need a dedicated client but, nonetheless, we like what we have seen though there's room for improvement.

Twitter is not perfect but Facebook comes very close - we did not even need to touch the extremely attractive app Facebook has built for Windows Phone.  All the functionalities we are used to in a Facebook app can be had through Microsoft's integrated solution.

Besides these implementations, the People Hub also manages to organize our contacts very neatly. It automatically configures groups such as co-workers, family and so on; it even rearranges information in our news feed accordingly.

Apart from this, we also have solid camera integration and a hub called the Me Hub which just like the People Hub and is the one stop all for personal information.

Inspite of its kinks, Windows Phone Mango now provides the best out of the box social networking experience on a mobile platform, which is feat neither Android nor Apple can compete with.

Google+ is conspicuous by its absence and that's just not going to change until the big G comes up with an app on its own.

Email and Messenger:
Originally, Windows Phone did not even support threaded conversations. Now, we can actually have a conversation with someone on Facebook and seamlessly switch to Windows Messenger or SMS all on the same thread. That's what we call integration.

We can now have multiple inboxes secured in one tile rather than have a separate tile for each and every inbox.

Apart from this there are "Conversation" style threads seen in the messaging app. Now we don't need to go through a labyrinth of mails in a clutter mailbox, we can just find the one in question through the Conversation.

Bing, Bing and Bing:
As Steve Ballmer likes to put it, Windows Phone Mango is all about Bing, Bing and Bing! Be it Bing Maps, Bing Search, Bing Vision or the Bing powered Local Scout feature, there's no doubt who's the star on Windows Phone Mango.

So, with Bing Maps we get turn-by-turn voice navigation, which was a no show in the Windows Phone 7. Is it better than Google Maps? No. But it is a much improved product. In the US it might be a decent competitor to Google Maps but in India it still needs some catching up to do, but one can't blame Microsoft for pushing its own solution. Early adopters should not fret because this ever improving product is now going to get some Nav-tech enhancements courtesy the Nokia deal which might just give it the added oomph when it goes head to head against Google Maps.

Bing Vision is basically Microsoft's answer to Google's Goggles. Need more information about a book, no problem just scan the barcode using Bing Vision and you are good to go. Don't know a monument, just snap a picture of the Taj Mahal and Bing Vision will do the rest. It's not as extensive or exhaustive as Goggles but there is no reason it cannot become better.

There is even a "Places" like app called Local Scout. Need to find the nearest Barista? No problem. Local Scout taps in Bing Maps and finds you the nearest one.

Apart from all these added features there is obviously Bing Search at the core. The search key takes us to Bing Search and it is closely tied in within each and every app. Now that's what we call integration.

Explore the web with Internet Explorer 9:
With Mango, we get a new version of IE which features GPU acceleration, sandboxing of tabs, support for HTML5, CSS3, SV, XHTML, DOM and more along with a faster java script. All this jargon basically converts to a much smoother and faster browsing experience.

Microsoft Office is king again:
One of the few strengths of Microsoft's now Ex-Mobile platform, Windows Mobile, was the way it handled Office documents. Windows Phone had thrown that great legacy of smartness into the gutter. Fortunately, Microsoft Office makes a strong comeback in Mango, which includes tight Office 365 and SkyDrive implementation.

New to Mango is the sublime integration of Office 365 with SkyDrive. Previously, we could sync OneNote files and now Mango allows us to save Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as gives us access to Sharepoint. Google Docs are good for personal use, but the moment you touch Enterprise Microsoft is king and here is where Mango rules.

In fact, Microsoft has really bumped up the functionality in Word and Excel. We get a myriad of templates, just like on Pages and Numbers on the iPhone. With these, both the apps really do look the part and offer enhanced functionality, rather than being some souped up version of a Documents 2 Go.

But the key out here is tight integration with the Cloud, that's where the corporate customer is going root to for Windows. Unlike Apple, Microsoft does not have an iCloud for music but we would not be surprised if something of that sort comes in the next build called "Tango".

Marketplace, shop till you drop:
While there is nothing exceptionally new about the Marketplace, we must mention that as Mango launches in India, the Marketplace offers more than 30,000 apps which in itself is quite a substantial number but falters the moment we speak of the iPhone 450,000 apps and Android's 300,00 apps.

Many are of the opinion that this dearth of apps is Mango's Achilles' heel and for the most part we agree. On the brighter side of things, though, Windows Phone now has most of the top apps people generally install when they purchase a smartphone.

Microsoft has also added a Web Marketplace, which behaves just like the Android Market place. It's always connected to our Windows Live account and the moment we click buy, it beams the app directly to our device.

And some more cool stuff:
Mango also brings features like Internet Sharing, Visual VoiceMail, and an updated Zune player and music controls for homescreen.

Internet Sharing is pretty self-explanatory. Just like Android, we can now tether our 3G signal to other devices, though this feature is restricted to newer devices. Devices which get upgraded to Mango will not have this feature.

Redmond had touted Visual Voice Mail as a big feature, but this functionality is absolutely useless to the Indian customer as none of the operators support it yet.

Now that Zune is also updated, it can take out bios of artists that you are listening to and it can also be controlled from the homescreen itself as a control pane appears if music is being played in the background.

Support for Video Chat has not been officially announced but Mango has built in APIs, which can be utilized by video chat apps like Skype.

Verdict:
As with our Windows 8 hands on, we see a lot of potential for Mango. Mango incorporates some of the best features of Apple's iOS and Google's Android and presents them in a fresh unique interface. Besides this, Microsoft also manages to break ground in terms of Social Networking integration, and rekindles it's enterprise mojo with Office 365 and SkyDrive.

There is no doubt that Windows Phone is now a contender, especially with Nokia leading the way. Having said that, compelling an option though it be, it still does not give many users a reason too change. At the same time, it is hampered by a dearth of apps and negative press for its creators. Reaching the big league was the easy part - now begins the tough bit of beating the might of iOS and Android.

Facebook scam: Shop For FREE at ASDA - FREE ASDA Gift Card......!!!

A new Facebook scam exploits your desire to get a free gift card to ASDA. Many can’t resist the temptation of getting free merchandise from the British supermarket chain.

Following the Starbucks and Tim Hortons Scams.  Facebook scammers are once again exploiting ignorant victims with claims of freebies. Anyone who shops at the British supermarket is a potential victim.
This version says something along the lines of “Shop For FREE at ASDA - FREE ASDA Gift Card” followed by a link to a fraudulent website. It also has the following description, according to Sophos:  “To celebrate our birthday, we are giving away thousands of Gift Vouchers FREE.”
Similar to previous Facebook scams, you need to share the link with your Facebook friends before proceeding. The webpage in question tells you this is necessary to get the free voucher.
There’s also similar Pizza Hut and Argos scams going around. The first is titled “Eat for Free at Pizza Hut!” with the description “Take advantage of this special Pizza Hut offer! Receive a FREE pizza coupon today! Act quickly before the supply runs out. With only a few coupsons left, they’ll go fast!” and the second is titled “Free £500 Argos gift cards for Christmas” with the description “As it’s coming up to Christmas we have decided to give away 250 £500 Argos gift cards.”
The scammers’ goal is to drive more traffic towards certain sites. This is how the scammer earns his or her money: a commission for every survey completed, every product purchased, and/or every account compromised. They also use them to spread malware and obtain personal information.
As I’ve recommended before, if you see a scam like this one, report it. Then go check your own Wall to make sure you’re not spreading the scam; the sooner you clean it up and unlike the page, the better. You can even contact Facebook Security if you’d like to.

Is Android a stolen product ....!!! ????

Excerpts of the upcoming Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacsonare doing the rounds, and it’s all fascinating stuff. But there’s one but that I keep coming back to, and that is what Steve Jobs thought of Google’s Android mobile operating system.
It’s clear that Jobs really didn’t like Android:
“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank [at the time ... this has grown massively since], to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”
In a meeting in March of 2010 with Eric Schmidt, then Google’s chief executive, at a cafe in Palo Alto, California, Jobs made it clear he wasn’t interested in settling lawsuits:
“I don’t want your money. If you offer me $5 billion, I won’t want it. I’ve got plenty of money. I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that’s all I want.”
And it’s this mindset that has led to the seemingly endless patent infringement lawsuits between Apple and Android device makers. As I've pointed out before, Apple doesn’t need the hassle of scrabbling for nickels and dimes in patent loot (like Microsoft is doing) because the company already has more cash than it knows what to do with. Apple’s not litigating for money, it’s doing so to keep the iPhone unique.
The areas of conflict between Apple and Android are well known and include features such as numbers and addresses being turned into clickable links, icons on a touch screen and the use of the pinching gesture for resizing.
But is it ’stealing’?

Introduction To Classes – Class, Variables, Objects, Executing a Java Program,,,,,,

Class Fundamentals:
The most important thing to understand about a class is that it defines a new data type. Once defined, this new type can be used to create objects of that type. Thus, a class is a template for an object, and an object is an instance of a class. Because an object is an instance of a class, you will often see the two words object and instance used interchangeably.
The General Form of a Class:
When you define a class, you declare its exact form/structure and nature. This is done by specifying the data that it contains and the code that operates on that data. A class is declared by use of the class keyword. A simplified general form of a class definition is shown here:
class classname {
type instance-variable1;
type instance-variable2;
//..
type instance-variableN;
type methodname1(parameter-list) {
// body of method
}
type methodname2(parameter-list) {
// body of method
}
// …
type methodnameN(parameter-list) {
// body of method
}
}
The data, or variables, defined within a class are called instance variables. The code is contained within methods. Collectively, the methods and variables defined within a class are called members of the class.In most classes, the instance variables are acted upon and accessed by the methods defined for that class. Thus, as a general rule, it is the methods that determine how a class’ data can be used.
Variables defined within a class are called instance variables because each instance of the class (that is, each object of the class) contains its own copy of these variables. Thus, the data for one object is separate and unique from the data for another.
All methods have the same general form as main( ), which we have been using thus far. However, most methods will not be specified as static or public. Notice that the general form of a class does not specify a main( ) method. Java classes do not need to have a main( ) method. You only specify one if that class is the starting point for your program. Further, applets don’t require a main( ) method at all.
A Simple Class:
Let’s begin our study of the class with a simple example. Here is a class called Box that defines three instance variables: width, height, and depth. Currently, Box does not contain any methods (but some will be added soon).
class Box {
double width;
double height;
double depth;
}
As stated, a class defines a new type of data. In this case, the new data type is called Box. You will use this name to declare objects of type Box. It is important to remember that a class declaration only creates a template; it does not create an actual object. Thus, the preceding code does not cause any objects of type Box to come into existence. To actually create a Box object, you will use a statement like the following:
Box mybox = new Box(); // create a Box object called mybox
After this statement executes, mybox will be an instance of Box. Thus, it will have “physical” reality. As mentioned earlier, each time you create an instance of a class, you are creating an object that contains its own copy of each instance variable defined by the class. Thus, every Box object will contain its own copies of the instance variables width, height, and depth. To access these variables, you will use the dot (.) operator. The dot operator links the name of the
object with the name of an instance variable. For example, to assign the width variable of mybox the value 100, you would use the following statement:
mybox.width = 100;
This statement tells the compiler to assign the copy of width that is contained within the mybox object the value of 100. In general, you use the dot operator to access both the instance variables and the methods within an object.
Here is a complete program that uses the Box class:
/* A program that uses the Box class.
Call this file BoxDemo.java
*/
class Box {
double width;
double height;
double depth;
}
// This class declares an object of type Box.
class BoxDemo {
public static void main(String args[]) {
Box mybox = new Box();
double vol;
// assign values to mybox’s instance variables
mybox.width = 10;
mybox.height = 20;
mybox.depth = 15;
// compute volume of box
vol = mybox.width * mybox.height * mybox.depth;
System.out.println(“Volume is ” + vol);
}
}
Very Important Tip To Be Remembered While Executing The Java Program:
If a file ABCD.java contains two classes Box and BoxDemo then, for compiling, you should call the file ABCD.java that contains this program , because the main( ) method is in the class called BoxDemo, not the class called Box. When you compile this program, you will find that two .class files have been created, one for Box and one for BoxDemo. The Java compiler automatically puts each class into its own .class file. It is not necessary for both the Box and the BoxDemo class to actually be in the same source file. You could put each class in its own file, called Box.java and BoxDemo.java, respectively. To run this program, you must execute BoxDemo.class. When you do, you will see the following output:
Volume is 3000.0
As stated earlier, each object has its own copies of the instance variables. This means that if you have two Box objects, each has its own copy of depth, width, and height. It is important to understand that changes to the instance variables of one object have no effect on the instance variables of another. For example, the following program declares two Box objects:
// This program declares two Box objects.
class Box {
double width;
double height;
double depth;
}
class BoxDemo2 {
public static void main(String args[]) {
Box mybox1 = new Box();
Box mybox2 = new Box();
double vol;
// assign values to mybox1′s instance variables
mybox1.width = 10;
mybox1.height = 20;
mybox1.depth = 15;
/* assign different values to mybox2′s
instance variables */
mybox2.width = 3;
mybox2.height = 6;
mybox2.depth = 9;
// compute volume of first box
vol = mybox1.width * mybox1.height * mybox1.depth;
System.out.println(“Volume is ” + vol);
// compute volume of second box
vol = mybox2.width * mybox2.height * mybox2.depth;
System.out.println(“Volume is ” + vol);
}
The output produced by this program is shown here:
Volume is 3000.0
Volume is 162.0
As you can see, mybox1’s data is completely separate from the data contained in mybox2.

What is Java? ??

Java is a perfect example of a High level language!
Its a programming language that has to be compiled to execute successfully!
Computer language innovation and development occurs for two fundamental reasons:
• To adapt to changing environments and uses
• To implement refinements and improvements in the art of programming
Java was originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which is now a subsidiary of Oracle Corporation)
Java is supposed to be related to C and C++ in many ways. The syntax of Java almost resembles that of C and the functions and features are similar to C++. Java is the best programming language and has varied applications from the browsers(Javascript), PC Softwares, Mobile Applications, Android OS, Many other Operating Systems etc.,
There were five primary goals in the creation of the Java language:
>It should be “simple, object-oriented and familiar”
>It should be “robust and secure”
>It should be “architecture-neutral and portable”
>It should execute with “high performance”
>It should be “interpreted, threaded, and dynamic”

Android Ice Cream Sandwich : Top 10 features that make it delicious..........!!!!!!!!!!

Know Your Mobile takes a bite into Android's latest operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich and brings out the features that make it so irresistible

Published on Oct 19, 2011
There are no two ways about the fact the Android is simple, easy and intuitive. With Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), Google builds on these three key features and brings on board powerful features to communicate and interact. Know Your Mobile picks the Top 10 ingredients that makes Ice Cream Sandwich flavor the best among all the other Android flavors so far.

Refined User Interface

With ICS, Android users will notice a more evolved UI. Simplifying things further the new Android platform brings common actions to the foreground, makes navigation easier in addition to bringing more intuitive gestures.

The emphasis is on visibility of the things that will aid users in multitasking and navigating. For example, in the system bar, virtual buttons will enable users to switch back and forth among Back, Home, and Recent Apps. There is also easy access to application options in the action bar placed at the top of the screen. In addition ICS brings improvement to the readability, thanks to the optimized high-resolution screen.

Multitasking

With Ice Cream Sandwich, multitasking is a breeze. Jump from one task to the other using the list in the System Bar. You can view the recently used apps ( indicated in a thumbnail) and switch along by tapping on the thumbnail. You can jump to the camera or see notifications without unlocking. The new and interactive notifications allows users to keep in constant touch with incoming messages, play music tracks, see real-time updates from apps, and more.

New system font aka Roboto

Android ICS sports a new type face called Roboto. Designed keeping the high resolution screens in mind, Roboto is extremely appealing. It's "modern, yet approachable" and "emotional,"- it is not just a font.

Resizable widgets

ICS gives you much more freedom than simply adding shortcuts. Flip through calendar, play music, check mails, and do a whole lot more. You can also squeeze your widgets or expand them according to your preference.

Smile and unlock

Now this is really a gem. Forget the complex passwords and say hello to a whole new "unlocking" mechanism. Look into the camera, smile ( or frown) and unlock your phone.

Cloud-connected experience

Users can now store all their documents, photos, apps, games, email, and contacts and sync them across all their devices. Organization is the key and with ICS's new browsing and email capabilities users can do just that and more.

Powerful voice input engine

This encompasses a very powerful feature that brings "open microphone" experience and streaming voice recognition. Now you can dictate as long as you want in the language you want. Any misspelled word or errors are highlighted in grey and users can tap on the errors to see suggestions and make changes.

Android Beam

This is one of the innovation features that Galaxy Nexus users will see in their ICS run device. Using Android Beam users can share everything from docs, music, photos, videos with just one tap. Unlike primitive days ( till yesterday) when we had to open a menu, launch a application, pair devices -  Android Beam makes sharing a piece of cake.  Also individual apps can add other types of interactions, such as passing game scores, chat, using Android Beam.

Redesigned Gallery app with photo editor

This app will come handy in managing, showing, sorting and sharing pictures and videos. Topping it is the new powerful photo editor, which will assure making your good pictures even better. Rotate, crop, add effects and do much more using this great tool.

Wi-Fi Direct

Ice Cream Sandwich users can use Wi-Fi Direct to connect directly to their friends nearby over Wi-Fi. Not only that, users can also connect with compatible devices and use new features like filled sharing, photos, media and more with other devices. In short good bye to internet connection and tethering.

Emergence Of Mobile Cloud Computing....!!!!

Emergence Of Mobile Cloud ComputingYears after birth of Internet, there is the Buzz across globe with reference to Cloud Computing.
The hottest wave in the world of technology is the potential growth of cloud computing.
While many technologically advanced people are aware about concept of Cloud Computing but still its new concept for masses.
Let me first of all brief about concept of Cloud Computing and how Mobile Cloud Computing is shortly going to be the future of Communication and of utmost importance to Telecom Operators as a revenue generating business model.
Basic Understanding of Cloud Computing:
Cloud computing is New and unique form of accessing data (e.g. Applications, documents, Music files,Video files, User files and much more) from any place across the globe without carrying any data storage devices like Hard drives, Memory cards or flash cards. Primary benefit of the technology is, it sets user free to move from his installed Desktop location to any other place and still can have access to their data anytime from anywhere. By having all the information on cloud, user can bury his worry for not being able to access data outside his home or office.
Without going into in depth analysis on cloud computing, one can easily start to realize the major benefits and advantages a Cloud Computing user has over the normal user, as Cloud Computing user can access all their information wirelessly from anywhere, anytime.
When we take into consideration total mobile using community in world (i.e. Approx 4.5 Billion),it starts making more business sense that how Mobile Cloud Computing can change the way we communicate and how Telecom operators can generate revenues by building viable and sustainable business model.
What is Mobile Cloud Computing:
Mobile world is Primarily dependent of Two factors One is Network Stability (2G, 3G, TD-LTE, WIFI, WIMAX etc.,) and second is Handset availability (Feature phones, Smart Phones, Ultra Smart Phones)
Currently, there are more “feature” mobile phone users than “smart” phone users in world.Since “feature” mobile phones do not have enough processing power or memory to support huge amounts of data, Cloud Computing seems to be the ideal solution for these “feature” mobile phone users. Cloud computing will allow these “feature” mobile phone users to have the same amount of data access like “smart” phone users, except for the simple fact that “feature” phone users will not physically have their data stored onto the phone (due to the low processing/memory capabilities), it will be on their cloud and accessible to them when required. This extra advantage of Cloud Computing allows developers and mobile companies to start targeting a larger market than only “smart” phone users, which in turn will give Cloud Computing more thrust in near future.
Another reason why Cloud Computing will have a major impact on the mobile world is due to the popularity of mobile applications on different devices. Mobile Applications have a countless number of benefits to its users but one major hitch which many mobile users face is the fact that some mobile applications will work only on a specific device but not on another device based on mobile platforms, popularly known as Mobile Operating Systems. For example, one mobile application may run only on the BlackBerry while it will not work on an Apple iPhone, Same way One application may run on Android (Google’s Mobile Operating System) but may not be compatible with Windows OS (Microsoft’s
Mobile operating System) or with Bada phone (Samsung’s Mobile Operating System) . This problem of mobile applications only running on specific devices can easily be solved if a user decides to switch and use Cloud Computing as a form of accessing data and applications for their devices; if an application can be accessible from the web, it certainly can be accessible through cloud computing.
Mobile Cloud Computing – Applications:
Cloud Email” Currently most of the mobile users are accessing Gmail (free Email service from Google) through its feature applications for various Mobile operating systems; this is the best and live example of Mobile Cloud Computing. Here all the Emails are stored on Gmail’s server and all the processing is also done on its cloud, User has the smart interface on screen of the phone from where he inputs the commands. Processing of commands is done on Gmail’s server and output is displayed on Mobile phone screen.
Cloud Music” is the latest buzz these days. Revolutionary technology “Music Anywhere” which allows customers to have access to their music collections from anywhere in the world using their mobile device is a biggest example of where Mobile Cloud Computing is heading. Cloud Music and Streaming is the foreseen future of Cloud Computing and Mobile.
Cloud Mobile Desktop” tends to be a universal Storage device which can be accessed via Desktop,Laptop, Pads & Even mobile phones. Many companies offer this services wherein they allocate fixed space (Obviously expandable by paying additional amount) to a user in cloud and provides access to it via internet irrespective of the Users instrument. Service gets optimized based on the instruments/ browsers capacity.
Google’s “Cloud Print” is also an interesting example of how this concept will revolutionize and be part of our daily operational activities. Primary goal of this service is “to build a printing experience that enables any app (web, desktop, or mobile) on any device to print to any printer anywhere in the world.” Even though this concept is in a nascent stage / Beta stage available for use in Google chrome version 9 through it’s “Cloud print connector” module. Google is planning to release an Android application for “Cloud Print” in near future.
Same way “Cloud Video” and “Cloud Photo” will also revolutionize the way we access our videos and Snaps.
Road Ahead & Future for Mobile Cloud Computing:
It is still undecided that what the future truly holds for Cloud Computing and Mobile Cloud Computing,but experts foresee that within 2-3 Years, all technologically superior countries will be using Mobile Cloud Computing as their primary method of accessing data through their Mobile Phones and In fact India will Lead the show due to its higher Mobile Subscribers rate than any other country in the world. The future for Cloud Computing is surely bright, but the end users will have to wait until Cloud Computing reaches its best possible potential stage in the Mobile Industry to have access to innumerous advantages and benefits it have for all the users.
